Being a loving human...

There is a fundamental difference between the homosexuality of the ancients And the life chosen by many homosexuals of today! The fundamental problem many people face in trying to deal with homosexuality from the outside - Is not understanding that homosexuality is an unchosen identity from birth, from early times “homosexuality” was condemned because of its ancient association with rape, gang rape, domination, subjugation and violence, even human/child sacrifice, perpetrated by many men against young men and children, it was quite ‘normal’ - in ancient times for entire populations to subjugate and abuse boys and young men! Temple prostitutes (both boys and girls) were kept. Homosexuality that pertains to domination and subjugation vs homosexuality pertaining to implicit identity, where the individuals are gay because nature made them that way, and many of whom now wish to form life long companionship and have that recognised in law... It need not divide churches Nor require a religious marriage Simply an acknowledgement Of that legal status Which enshrines equality In a gay civil marriage... And that those who choose life long sexual depravity, rape, subjugation of young gay men, (and women but this is about why there was condemnation of homosexuality) and children - they! are in mortal evil sin, the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah Be they gay Or straight!! Perversely As we know Such homophobic attacks on gay men have been justified by condemning homosexuality by the very acts that were and are performed against them !! Of course gay people can be living sinful lives in the guise of victimhood, as so many others often do! Gay men themselves can be perpetrators of sexual violence as can straight men. Sexual life in a relationship can of course easily degrade to sin. In all of this I believe scriptures were to address the evils of the past ancients and bring us to more righteous lives, one of life long commitment to a partner, especially needed if gay, brings us there!

Jesus Christ said very little of homosexuality, there was no condemnation, likewise with the 12 apostles. St Paul was a very disapproving no doubt because as a Roman citizen, he would have seen the appalling way young men would have been treated. Likewise Old Testament scriptures would have been condemning of the ways young men were treated by all men.

Be a sane gay and a sane straight, understanding why, how and where we are is important. Context is everything, historically, morally and contextually, because words and interpretation have no meaning or have bad meanings without context. Understanding the whole message is important to us all.
