Life's Wisdom?

The nest is now completely hidden behind that clump of magnolia flowers

Well, the owl could be heard a few times this past month, and the flocks of parakeets returned a week or 2 ago, they were flying right up past the window - as the leaves burst forth! love seeing them in flocks of beautiful green..

The song birds seem to sing loudest and in triumph on these early Spring morning days just as the leaves burst forth, in fact they was going strong at 2 am last week, they must have been insomniacs awake with me, or perhaps they rejoice at Spring too....the first leaves.... and...

...there was something on the roof (last Sat ~ midnight) !! thought it was some wild animal, something growling, sounded really disgusting for a minute, then the hoots.. closed the window.. but peered from one further and the most impressive huge owl was perched by the chimneys!! Right above my head it had been...just a metre away. We just stared at each other, it was huge at least a foot and a half, maybe 2 foot high, spotty front, think its a tawny owl.. though I'm unsure, it was past midnight..

... but nothing had been seen this past month in the nest! An owl that big could not hide away in this nest.. but now the nest is hidden away.. as leaves came forth and dropped petals now cover the garden floor...

Its probably just a deserted nest, but full of fleece? Or part of a duvet perhaps haha, maybe an eating place for the owl.... who knows...

The owl flew to the other chimney... and we just looked at each other... expected it to say something! hey dude you the creepy heavy thing thats been walking on my roof beams at night? making them creak months at a time these past 10 years?

The night garden with its sounds of killings had been horrific for many weeks over many years at a time too, hours of animal scream carnage! You never heard anything like it, Cats fighting perhaps but hours of it for years. Thought there was a Fox up and about, maybe not. Certainly hear them bark and see them walk unafraid down the road often..

So that is the end of news on the nest, mind you we wait and see... might be owlets popping out, you never know... !!!
