Terraforming Mars -
(A novice's dream sci-fi guide)
- by moving our climate change over to Mars!!
Mars is no dry rock, there is plenty of hidden water...
5 million cubic kilo-meters of frozen ice!! (I read somewhere) - enough to cover the entire planet with oceans 30 metres deep !! jaw dropping and inspiring -
The water is there, but with temperatures as low as -180C at the poles (low enogh to freeze CO2), but rising to ~+20C in Summer mid-day equatorials, its not unimaginable to see life moving in, if not already present hidden away in ice, salt pools, underground, or in caves or underground seas. Mars is a terrain for robotic and human exploration and transformation!
Geological exploration might reveal if there were ever plants living on Mars? or even any fossils of life?
If only we could transport over, pump up our oil reserves, some magical hose kept in geo-stationary orbit with swarms of robotic drones in a magical sci-fi space elevator design - geo synced space stations to container ship our oil over to Mars in huge space - oil tanker space ships, use it to power industry (building space ships, fuel stations, new cities, or burn it off to warm new cities and drive automobiles, expell as much c02 there to induce global warming on Mars and not on earth! There are metal ores that can be mined to make money and set factories up..
Melt the ice by inducing global warming- create the seas, and grow forests to produce oxygen from water!..
Atmospheric pressure might increase, but life would still need vast dome like glass structures to get started, but with robotic building or self unfolding structures...
One day -
could Mars be more like Earth with vast cities? Venus is a boiling hot small planet, much hotter than Mercury due to co2 greenhouse gasses and has a thick toxic atmosphere in place so small planets can keep an atmosphere, either Mars lost its own or never had one or it froze out to solid. May be on Mars the craters will become the first vast dome cities of colonisation, with lakes and forest - expelling desired wastes into the barren lands to seed gradual terraformation? With no Nitrogen, the atmosphere is at almost zero pressure so water would vapourise outside a dome, but is there enough water / frozen co2 to saturate the atmosphere (mind you, it would be very very wet though, just water vapour, unless we can somehow add 80% nitrogen or inert gas)
Keep our future green and use our carbon fuels to warm and terraform Mars! what a mad thought lol -
What a dream, it needs a dream team! to make a mission impossible, possible, for the entire world!
The wealth of an entire planet is there to be found and enjoyed.. it just takes pioneers... perhaps a thousand years.. and ethics of course!!
What better goal for humanity? Less war and conflict, more collaboration with international initiatives.. why spend trillions on more deadly weapons endlessly with no return when there is a planet to invest in!! A nicer future than endless risky Mutually Assured Destruction that might soon be expiring its temporary role... Mutually Assured Gains by Inter-Dependent Cooperation is a better long term philosophy...
